Landscape Pondless Water Feature Hardscape

One of our most recent projects ~ the demolition of a Koi pond feature and construction of a new dual stream and waterfall pondless feature~ An idea for those who want "water" without the upkeep of a pond- FABULOUS!

Pondless Water Feature Project

This landscape and hardscape project started off with the removal of an existing Koi pond and stream along with all landscape to provide for a clean “slate”. Ponds are still quite popular yet require a good bit of maintenance. With “pondless” water features, the homeowner has practically no maintenance to deal with and still can have the beauty of a water feature including streams and waterfalls as well as that ultimate tranquility of “sound”.
Upon complete removal of the old pond, stream and landscape we decided to design a dual stream and waterfall feature. One stream, 40’ in length, was to have more of a Brook-like quality to it along with a split boulder waterfall. The other stream was more rapid and included a “sheet” waterfall. Larger boulders were placed along with (2) two boulder bridges, At the base of the waterfalls, where the pond once was, we created a basin to hold close to 1000 gallons of water and covered over it with cut flagstone and creek pebble within the joints. All of our projects are CUSTOM yet to give this one something more unique we decided to create and cut into the flagstone an evergreen tree design and fill it with Mexican beach pebbles. A 4000-8000 GPH ( Gallon per hour) pump was installed. The beauty to these Aquascape/Aquasurge pumps is that you have a small hand held remote that even from a distance allows you to turn the system on/off as well as adjust the water flow by increasing or decreasing the GPH all from your small remote. This way you can truly make a “SPLASH” –or- decrease the flow due to noise if company is over.
Night Lighting ~ The whole feature is loaded with low voltage night lighting. We placed solid brass fixtures underneath each boulder bridge illuminating the stone in specific ways. The sheet waterfall ( on right side) has a solid brass light behind it which illuminates through the water and the split boulder waterfall has a solid brass light illuminating it and a portion of the stone wall from the front side. Solid copper path lights meander throughout and uplighting was placed behind the Cryptomeria and Sky Pencils as well as the Japanese Lace Leaf Maple and a couple other specimens.
For the Landscape fanatic ~ Due to the season ( November cold), we planted all hardy specimens that we could yet on April 1st the blow out of perennial color plants and flowers will be installed. The design will be amazing when in full bloom. Some of the plants we have decided upon –
•             Sedum Carpet
•             Blue Star Creeper
•             Big Blue Hosta
•             Ostrich Ferns
•             Helleborus (several varieties)
•             Rosemary Prostrata
•             Irish Moss
•             Sunsparkler Sedum
•             Thymus Coccineus
All together an amazing transformation, if we don’t say so ourselves! Whatever your Hardscape and Landscape needs, contact us for the ultimate in professionalism and quality. You deserve the best and we are here to provide it!
